Review of ReLIFE

ReLIFE is a good romcom, it's a wholesome story with a lovable cast of characters. It checks every box for an enjoyable watching experience : the animation is good, you can easily relate to the characters, there's the usual amount of cute moments between characters. There's also some drama to pique the viewers' interest, nothing that will make you feel uneased, simply plausible problems teenagers can face. The soundtrack is awesome, there's a different ending song for every episode ( if they'll either be to your taste or not is quite subjective, but we can appreciate the trouble of picking different songs ) and themusic used to enhance different feelings in the episode are quite effective.

However, there is one drawback : while the premise is quite promising, don't get your hopes up for a philosophical story that'll make you question different topics. I won't say much more because I don't intend to spoil, but to put it simply, this story is ( too ) close to the usual rhythm & events we can find in other romcoms.

I can assume the story is developped in a better way in this anime's sequel, and it doesn't imply that ReLIFE is bad or anything, I'd still rate it 8/10 because I believe it's a good romcom, but it's not as deep as one might expect with such an initial plot.
