Review of Blood Blockade Battlefront

Best taken as a slice of life shonen anime, which is a really weird description, but most episodes in season 1 are self-contained, with very little connections to past or future episodes. The only exception to this rule is the attempt at an overarching narrative with White, Black, and Leo (an anime-exclusive narrative that certainly feels.. not fully baked). While the characters themselves and their interactions are great, the actual payoff was simply unimpressive, almost feeling rushed by the end (despite having a double-length finale, where unfortunately very little actually happens) However, the individual episodes themselves are absolute hilarity from start to finish, and the animation isincredible throughout the season (including the finale). Despite the weak overarching narrative, it was still a perfectly enjoyable experience, and the ending does not devalue all of the episodes that came before.
