Hunter x Hunter: Greed Island Final · review
The Finale arc did an overall good job on the storyline. I loved the soundtrack, especially during the fight scenes, which gave me boss battle vibes, which is pretty fitting considering the arc. I loved the small details in each episode, especially when you see how Gon and Killua embrace the full experience of the game while acquiring the cards. My favorite part is when they made it canon that Killua is a gambling addict LOL. The dodgeball episodes with Razor were my favorite. I loved the development of the teams and how important everyone was in battle. Each person contributed to something. Hisoka, despite beinga weirdo, was a very helpful teammate. And Gon's immense respect and admiration for Killua was shown by putting his faith in him despite being badly injured.
Genthru and his long ahh chin pissed me tf off, he is the true definition of a toxic gamer, but he made a great villain. I loved Genthru's battle between Gon towards the end, along with Gon's quick-thinking skills; the fact that he had flashbacks to what Bisky taught him just shows how impactful her character is. It's also funny that it was revealed towards the end that Genthru was infact stronger than Gon, but it was all thanks to Gon's luck and awesome planning that he even survived.
Also, Gon getting an 87% percent on the quiz really shows how much he enjoyed the game and that he actually listened to Ging's advice before playing the game. Nice attention to detail!
Finishing the final OG version of Hunter x Hunter made me feel empty because we never got to see the Chimera Ant arc and how truly awesome the attention to detail in the story, the art, and soundtrack would have been. The ending where Kite was slowly revealed gave me literal goosebumps.
