Review of Akira
April 14, 1954 in Miyagi Prefecture, one of the geniuses of the world of manga and anime Katsuhiro Otomo was born. rethinking in their works. Surprising is the fact that after graduating from school, Katsuhiro was unable to enroll in an art gymnasium, after which he went to Tokyo, where he began work as a mangaka. In 1973, the first Gunshot manga comes out, followed by the Fireball and Doumu, the latter, in turn, is awarded the prestigious award (1983), but even this merit and his previous work cannot compare in popularity with the next Otto creation. Fireball bore the function of a turning point inthe author’s life. It was during her work that the love of science fiction that he carried through all his creativity was finally strengthened. In 1982, the AKIRA manga, the fruit of Otto’s 10-year-old labor, containing the in itself there are two thousand pages decorated in a six-volume book, which in the future was screened as an anime and brought great popularity to the author, both at home and abroad.Otomo's talent was not ignored by the public, and the number of awards awarded to him includes the Eisner Prize, Harvey Award, Nihon SF Taisho Award. as an animator, director and screenwriter.
The manga is set in the city of Neo-Tokyo, which suffered the devastating effects of the energy explosion caused by Akira, which is the end of World War III. Over time, mankind managed to rehabilitate civilization, but it did not work out to establish order within their souls. In a world like never before a wave of violence and persecution rushed, opposition movements begin to emerge, seeking to bring the government to clear water, the flames of revolution come on. Against this background, the life of two friends Tetsuo and Kaneda, members of one of the biker groups, is shown.
On one of their trips, they encounter a strange boy, more like an old man than a child, as a result of contact with him Tetsuo, who is later hospitalized by the military, almost dies. This is the beginning of AKIRA manga, representing the storyline, in the form of a certain pyramid, which is gradually being built in front of the reader. From the first page, the work that Katsuhiro has done is amazing, outlining the background and substantive details of the terrain or interior, but at the same time the weakness of the elaboration of the faces of the characters subject to some kind of Western style is striking.Rather, it is not a flaw, but a certain feature that gives the manga and characters more pronounced features of its inherent form and individuality. The main plot component revolves around the crushing friendship of the main characters. Moreover, all the drama is not based on pathos, but has a strict unbreakable foundation. Two orphaned people face to face with the world, overcoming its trends by means of joint relations, expressed in a fragile spiritual symbiosis.Tetsuo’s relationship with the superman and Kaneda, who is trying to understand his friend, is imbued with true tragedy and drama. Tetsuo mostly contains inner paints, being in a state of fear and inner regress, he nevertheless, despite the impersonal force that breaks it, tries to curb the energy incomprehensible to his consciousness. The Universe, as in manga, is represented in the complex dialectics of internal structures and processes of the flow of "the flow" in the macro and microworld. The human spirit and body are able to transform with it, make a certain synthesis, embark on a new round of the evolutionary stage and even step over it. Blinded by these opportunities, people strive in every way to come closer to the disclosure of this force, which manifests itself as a telepathic feature peculiar only to the elect. lives."AKIRA" is a kind of cry of a meta-man through the abyss of the universe, infinite, all-consuming and irresistible. The will that carries the road and the liberation from the burden of “need” and “givenness” connecting the paths of eternal regression of the spirit and the path leading to the absolute essence of the mind. But are we worthy of this call? Will people drowning in the ocean of the bodies of their murdered counterparts be able to achieve this edge? And most importantly, do they need it? Katsuhiro shows the world of strong personalities, but weak "people."
“Akira still lives among us!” With these words, Canade opens the door to the spirit of “Akira”, which exists in every person and is a mentality within the consciousnesses of the whole world. He is the spirit of freedom, life and unity binding, strengthening in his boundless hope for the future.
Together with Katsuhiro Otomo's immense philosophical overtones, Otto gives action and events historical hints.
The explosion in Neo-Tokyo and the destruction that followed it hint at one of the most tragic events during the existence of Japan, namely the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The author shows how people who have lost everything are able to rise from the depths of hell with their own resources, begin to recover, lost values based on their spirit, which is no longer broken by anything in this world.
“AKIRA” is one of the best works of Otomo, an epoch-making phenomenon in the world of manga and anime, which has suffered plot and artistic innovation, which after many years is not inferior to modern works, but still is an example of perfect synergy of inner content and form.
