Review of Blue Period
(Spanish review below). I don't know how to begin to describe how much I loved Blue Period. The funny thing is that for years I thought I wouldn't like it. I don't know exactly why. I thought it would be about a simple art club, but it's so much more than that. The main reason I liked anime is because of the place art has in it. The themes that are addressed around art, how the characters experience art and why they chose it as a way of life. I was never good at visual art, but I enjoy it a lot and I like to learnas much as possible about what's behind the art pieces. In that sense, Blue Period gave me everything. I also really liked the technical parts and found them VERY interesting, although the relationship of the characters with their own art was the best of all.
I really liked the animation and the drawing style. The mangaka has a particular style that is very expressive.
The characters seemed very real to me. They all have their own demons and are vulnerable, but stubborn. Everyone has a different relationship with art and a different way of expressing themselves through it. Everyone also has different goals and purposes when it comes to art.
I really liked Yatora. I connected a lot with him and found him to be an admirable person in terms of his tenacity and willpower. If I were him, I would have probably given up much earlier or not even tried.
My favorite character, on the other hand, was Ryuuji. I didn't expect to find a character from the LGBTQAI+ community in Blue Period, although I probably should have, considering its subject. What I liked most is that Ryuuji is not simply a scapegoat or the laughing stock of the anime, but a real person who is trying to make a place for themselves in the world just like the rest of the characters. And, above all, I liked their relationship with Yatora. Considering that it is not an anime that focuses on the subject of sexuality and gender, I think it is important that the subject is taken with the seriousness it deserves. In that sense, Ryuuji, or Yuka, is not Yatora's weird friend, but simply their friend. I found the scene at the motel beautiful.
Watching Blue Period made me miss being surrounded by art or studying art a lot, and it also encouraged me to do it again. I recommend it to anyone, but especially to art fans like me. I will definitely be watching a second season if it comes out, but in the meantime I will jump to the manga because I really like the author's style.

No sé cómo comenzar a describir lo mucho que amé Blue Period. Lo gracioso es que, por años, pensé que no me gustaría. No sé exactamente por qué. Pensé que trataría de un simple club de arte, pero es muchísimo más que eso.
La razón principal por la que me gustó el anime es por el lugar que el arte ocupa en este. Los temas que se abordan en torno al arte, cómo los personajes viven el arte y por qué es que lo eligieron como forma de vida. Nunca fui buena para el arte visual, pero lo disfruto mucho y me gusta aprender lo más posible sobre lo que hay detrás de las obras. En ese sentido, Blue Period me lo dio todo. Las partes técnicas también me gustaron mucho y me parecieron MUY interesantes, aunque la relación de los personajes con su propio arte fue lo mejor de todo.
La animación y el estilo de dibujo me gustaron muchísimo. La mangaka tiene un estilo particular que resulta muy expresivo.
Los personajes me parecieron muy reales. Todos tienen sus propios demonios y son vulnerables, pero obstinados. Cada uno tiene una relación diferente con el arte y una forma diferente de expresarse a través de él. También cada uno tiene metas y propósitos diferentes en cuanto al arte se refiere.
Yatora me gustó muchísimo. Conecté mucho con él y me resultó una persona admirable en cuanto a su tenacidad y su fuerza de voluntad. Yo en su lugar seguro hubiese abandonado mucho antes o ni siquiera lo hubiera intentado.
Mi personaje favorito, por otro lado, fue Ryuuji. No esperaba encontrarme a un personaje de la comunidad LGBTQAI+ en Blue Period, aunque seguro tendría que haberlo hecho, teniendo en cuenta su temática. Lo que más me gustó es que Ryuuji no es simplemente un chivo expiatorio o el hazme reír del anime, sino una persona real que está intentando hacerse un lugar en el mundo igual que el resto de personajes. Y, sobre todo, me gustó su relación con Yatora. Teniendo en cuenta que no es un anime que se centre en la temática de sexualidad y género, me parece importante que se tomara el tema con la seriedad que merece. En ese sentido, Ryuuji, o Yuka, no es el amigo raro de Yatora, sino simplemente su amigo. La escena en el motel me pareció preciosa.
Ver Blue Period me hizo extrañar mucho estar rodeada de arte o estudiando arte, además me incentivó a hacerlo nuevamente. Se lo recomiendo a cualquier persona, pero sobre todo a aficionados al arte como yo. Sin duda estaré viendo una segunda temporada si sale, pero mientras tanto saltaré al manga porque el estilo de la autora me gusta mucho.
