Review of Solo Leveling Season 2: Arise from the Shadow
Don't understand why people are bothered by the fact that this anime got popular. At the end of the day, it's not that deep. Anime is made for one purpose - entertainment in which Solo Leveling does a great job. Sure it doesn't have much plot to it, sure it doesn't have well written background characters. But does that matter when people are just enjoying the anime? Sometimes simplicity takes you higher than an anime that tries too hard. Like Is it wrong to rate a simple street food 9/10 when it's genuinely good and people enjoy eating that while we have Michelin star dishes? It doesn't matter how complicated the dish nor anime is, when they're there just for the people to enjoy it. Not everyone will pick a complicated Michelin star dish over a tasty street food.
Honestly I wouldn't expect well written characters from an anime called Solo Leveling. In my opinion, it does a very great job to sticking what author had in mind and its title - a story about one guy leveling up solo. Sure we almost never have development of other characters, but does that matter when the anime is only about one guy in an anime called Solo Leveling?
The story overall maybe is very straightforward and predictable but that's what makes it interesting. I'd rather have that than an anime that tries being complicated and ultimately fails. Simplicity also fits well when you have a guy that basically treats the whole world like a game while others are too serious.
This anime may not be perfect but it did a really great job in one thing that anime have been made for - fun and entertainment.
