Review of Gangsta.
Gangsta is a show that seems to suffer from not knowing where it's ultimately trying to get to. The journey, however, is for the most part pretty entertaining. It opens with a pretty cool reveal at the end of the first episode which did a great job of hooking me. It has a fairly stable cast of characters throughout, and I found myself quite endeared to some of the members of the club, even if I don't necessarily remember all of their names. Towards the end, it loses its way. The story eventually shows its hand as basically incomplete and a lot of the lateraction is less coherent than what we see towards the beginning of the show, when the scope is more personal and less grand. I would say this is a poor story played out by endearing characters in a charming setting. I enjoyed the majority of episodes but didn't find the frequent flashbacks to the characters' tragic upbringings to really add anything. I do however, love a lot of the characters' day to day dealings, and it has a charming and unique aesthetic influenced by vintage european architecture. Watch this until your interest wanes and don't feel obliged to finish it.
