Spoilers ahead: I try to be open minded about shows, and to understand why I do or don't like things and re-evaluate my opinions after to see if my mind changes. However with Devilman Crybaby I wish I could just get the time I wasted back. Artstyle: The artstyle is all over the place, low quality and at times offputting. Its a good example of the rest of the show really; messy and all over the place, bold and violent but overall just seems low budget fustercluck. Story:Story progression is weak and has almost no depth.
I am all for the harsh sex, drugs, and violence. But this show seems to do it mindlessly for the sake of having it rather then making any discernible point.

From the offset the decline in humanity is a complete over exaggeration and all seems drastically unlinked to the existence of Devilman and the devils themselves.
It feels completely out of place and hints that there is more to what's going on but never delivers.

I kept waiting around for some payoff due to reviews and buzz online but I don't get it at all.
The senseless increase in violence and killing of the characters is a mess, building up right to the end where it appears that all that has happened is for nothing.
Making watching the past 10 episodes leave me with "why did I even watch that?".

Characters:
The main character Akira is a weak pathetic mess and his character progression is non existent. and the supporting cast and their motivations are all either exaggerated stereotypes, or just non existent.
The only character with any depth is Miki who is the most likeable thing in the whole show.
However the buildup to her being the last main supporting character to die senselessly is just another weak part of the show.
It seems that the build up to her death is supposed to be some deep catalyst to Akira finally going all out against Satan. But the show for me was killing its strongest role at this point. And from there I was completely pessimistic the end would deliver.

Final battle and ending:
I have no clue where to start here.
It is just a fast meaningless mess; there seems to be this hint to deeper topics, like rebirth, the violent tendencies of man, but no.
It kills all. Everything builds up to nothing we can recognise and that is where I have the biggest problem with this story. It makes everything that just happened pointless.
I wish I could get those hours back, I would give the show a zero if I could.
