Overall Score: 10/10 The Flower Princess of Sylph is truly a rare gem and an even rarer kind of beauty to read. For starters, it is true high fantasy, the kind that reminds me of The Lord of the Rings and other classic fantasy epics. You do not often see that kind of worldbuilding in manga, especially in the girls’ love (GL) genre. The mangaka mentioned this in the author’s notes, and I completely agree. It honestly breaks my heart that the western audience did not fully support this series, which led to the English publication being discontinued. Right now, it is in a sort of indefinitehiatus for those of us who cannot read Japanese. But if you are fluent, you can still support the author by buying the digital chapters and subscribing monthly to follow the ongoing updates.

For those of us waiting and hoping for an English return, I will keep waiting as long as it takes. In the meantime, I wanted to leave this review to share why you should absolutely read and support what is currently available. Even though only seventeen chapters (around three volumes) are available in English, every page is worth reading. I say this from a genuine and unbiased place. This series is a true work of art. The pacing, the emotions it brings from the very beginning, and the charm and depth of the characters all come together beautifully. The art style is stunning, and the worldbuilding and concept make it shine even more.

I will not go too deeply into the plot because this is one of those stories that deserves to be experienced fresh. Go in knowing only the summary and a good recommendation. If you love fantasy, if you love stories that feel alive and full of heart, and if you want to support creators who pour their soul into their work, then please give The Flower Princess of Sylph a read.
