Spoiler warning

This review may discuss plot details.

Well, here we are after sixty episodes, the end of Strike the Blood. And creating a fifth season consisting of only four episodes, adapting the final volume, feels like a production decision more than anything else rather than actual story decisions because it should’ve been attached to Season 4. It was always going to be an uphill battle after the fourth season was way more baffling than anything. And this final season is similar, but this time, we have more of an annoying villain whose motives are unclear, other than the fact he is an evil dude, and for some reason, we get a spacecolony ship and apparently alien dragons. I mean, the villain literally asks, “why are you hindering me?”... because you’re a bad guy with bad goals and are a clear narcissist so it’s obvious that people would stand up to you. In terms of the ending, it’s a happy ending but it’s also way too ambiguous, leaving the door open for future battles and not even getting the harem together, Kojou still hasn’t realized how many girls love him even at the end. As a conclusion to a long running series, it’s pretty underwhelming and leaves too much on the table to be in any way a satisfactory ending.
