Review of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End
Amazing anime, and I've been seeing everyone around me getting emotional watching the teaser for the next season, so let's do a quick review: TOHO Animation and Madhouse need little introduction. TOHO has responsible for producing shows like Jujutsu Kaisen, Spy x Family, Haikyuu, My Hero Academia and the list goes on. Madhouse on the other hand has been responsible for shows like Death note, Hajime No Ippo and Hunter x Hunter. They nailed it again here with Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. The animation style, the voice acting, the directing and the pacing all sync really well, which is no surprise for these studios. The story isreally grounded in its themes of loss and self-discovery, something which can really resonate with mature minds. The music and dialogue capture the whimsical and ethereal fealing of the 'journey', which the director Keiichiro Saito clearly understood to provide such emphasis.
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is an anime that just about anyone could watch and appreciate. Whilst less mature audiences might not find its pacing entertaining in a time awash with isekai and power fantasy slop, this is the type of anime that will transcend time and become a timeless part of anime for many years to come.
