Yup, I decided to catch up with this series. I heard amazing things about it and am curious. Unlike FMAB, when I got a spoiler for this anime, it only made me want to watch it. I don't know why. Additionally, a second season is scheduled for winter 2026. I decided to catch up to see what the hype was all about. So, anyway, let's jump into the review. How did I find this? This is the talk of the town when it was aired. I can't turn a blind eye. Even when the controversy happened, it made me more curious.Appealing (Why did I get into the anime?)
Nothing in particular. At least when it was aired, until I heard the series was mostly slice of life.
I was like, "Dang, I should've watched it when it aired.

Platform
Amazon Prime, Aniplus TV, Bahamut Anime Crazy, Bilibili Global, Catchplay, Crunchyroll, iQiyi, MeWatch, Muse Asia, and Netflix.

The review;
Plot/Story
An elf mage just finished her journey with the hero party, defeating the demon king. And when she thought it was the end, and she could just laze down, she got another thing in hand. Babysitting the two apprentices of her two friends from the hero party.

To be fair, I could make the synopsis more appealing to people, but let me just explain why I love this story.

It reminded me of Cross Game. My top 1 anime of all time.
The tale of Frieren almost has a similar vibe to the Cross Game plotline. Essentially, Frieren has to move forward in life while also reminiscent her old adventure.

In Cross Game, the MC loses his best/girlfriend since childhood, and the series tells about his journey after that event. In his journey to be the best baseball player in Tokyo, he reminisces about his promises and good times with the girl, and it's the things that make him move forward in life.

The plot is not far from the Frieren plotline. It's just in Frieren, you experience it from an elf mage perspective, not a young boy with big ambitions.

Also, I have to say the world-building in this series was spectacular. Even though the names could have some work (it's kind of hard to remember the name of the place where Frieren has traveled), I appreciate how this series conveys how massive the world is and how fun to explore.

Character
Ahhh, how great a SOL series is without this? It can't.
That's why the characters of said SOL series have to be memorable. Frieren did just that. It's so fun to watch just how adorable the interaction is between the main three MCs.

Heck, even the development of the three main characters is fantastic.

No wait, the WHOLE cast was incredible.

OST/SFX
Two Thumbs Up.
I don't have any major things to say here. It's just that they don't miss a beat in the anime itself. I don't particularly like the OPs and EDs (Not my kind of music), but they still did a great job.

Animation
Do I need to explain how great the animation is?

VA
Man, I love how nonchalant Frieren's voice is.
It's great that Atsumi's VA captured her character so much.

Other than her, I just give Two Thumbs Up.

Bonus segment
I said I got spoiled, right?
Well, I'm just going to say, even when it got spoiled, I feel like the scene is just too OOC that I don't mind it at all. Whereas the FMAB one was so severe that it actually made it hard to watch the series.

I'm not even joking, till this day, I still haven't finished FMAB because of that spoiler.
I'm just glad that Frieren had more SOL scenes than action. I don't bother got those spoilers.

The conclusion;
The good
TIME TO MOVE ON TO SEASON 2, BABY. Whoop whoop!
The bad
... wait, they only have 10 episodes for season 2? What is this? Attack on Titans?

Gratitude
Thanks as always, Muse Asia. I appreciate the work.
Still can't believe we, Asians, have something this amazing to watch for free on YouTube.

Overall 9.8/10
Fantastic watch. Need more SOL scene. Lol
