Trigun... would you believe me if I say it is a masterpiece? Many people seems to have a hard time rating things solidly and usually use decimal because of some silly minor flaw. I mean, sure, being precise and concise is a good thing, so if by putting a decimal in the rating really that necessary, by all means, do it. However, I cannot help, but to stress that this is YOUR review and HOW you feel about what you are REVIEWING. In the end, a rating system is just a convenient and simplified way to make your life easier. If so, you shouldn't beafraid of rating something that deserves better or the opposite of course. To me, Trigun is truly a masterpiece, but not without flaws of course. It is a masterpiece, but a messy masterpiece. I also feel that Trigun is an underrated anime that people seems to overlooked. It such an old anime that people seems to overshadow it with other animes. Now, I don't plan on flaming people or anything, but it just surprise me how Clannad: After Story deserves more than Trigun in terms of rating. This is just one of the many comparison I wish to make because while Clannad: After Story is a good anime, it's not an anime for everybody because there is a sense of reality, with real emotion coming from an anime and its' believable and compelling characters. However, that's about it. There's no action, there's no comedy, there's not much mystery, there's no thrill, and some other genre I can't seem to think of now. Sure, an anime quality isn't based on some genre and each genre works differently. That is true, but here is the thing. The more genre there is, the more work there is and more complicated and difficult it is to work on. The focus become wider and it's quite difficult to aim for multiple of it. Clannad: After Story is purely Romance, Slice of Life, Drama. Maybe comedy, but I think that's the first season since second season became more serious. Trigun, on the other hand, handles many types of genre and actually did a good job on executing the story. So, why is it that Clannad: After Story still beat Trigun on rating? Well, one reason I could think of is the generation that we were in. For another reason I could think of is the advertisement. I'm just a little sad for such awesome anime to be so underrated. Whenever I talk to people about anime, Trigun is never on the list. It's always something like SAO, Bleach, Naruto (Shippuden), One Piece, Death Note, Attack on Titan, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Fairy Tail, etc. Granted, the anime that I've listed aren't terrible anime, there is a reason why it is so popular and possibly highly rated. I know the fact that I've watched all of them, but I also feel that Trigun belong on the top 10 list. It became such a relic, which can be a good thing and a bad thing. Story: It's a about a character with a large bounty on his head. Every where he goes there's always something happening and it's most likely because of him. He embark in his journey for two reason, one is to survive and two is to find a certain someone. It's funny, it's witty, and it gets serious at times. It tells a story that engage the viewers, or at least, should. It has action, there is thrill. It got from A to many hours of fun and pain to B. From start to middle to end, not a single moment sucked. Pacing of the story felt about right.

Art: Okay, this, I can understand people who are used to modern art would rate this lower. True, the art probably isn't for everybody. It could be another reason why it is an underrated anime. But it's not by all means a terrible art. I liked, but I don't know about you. Animation felt rather fluid despite that was created in 1998.

Sound: That Opening! Perhaps one of my favorite opening of all times. The ending was okay. I guess there is a flaw that I see, it would be the ending. It just doesn't feel Trigun-ish. Otherwise, other sounds such as background, and the sound of gun fire and stuff like that are great in the ears.

Character: I'll try not to spoil anything, but man, that main character. I'll to you one thing, the characters in Trigun are absolutely stunning. Each characters has their own personality and are not one-dimensional. Even villains or antagonists, they have there reason as to why they do things the way they do. The great thing about characters in Trigun is that there is no definitive line between a hero and a villain. Both sides are in a sense a victim, but there is always a mastermind behind it, but heck, even the mastermind a victim when you watch more of back history. That what gets you drawn to the character because of rich background and understanding their development as time pass by.

Enjoyment: I had a hell of blast watching this show. I watch it, at least, 4 times from 1 to episode 26. While, not my favorite anime, it's up there as a top notch anime.

Overall: I believe this anime could be for everyone and I strongly recommend it. It is shounen after all. Even though it arch type is meant for little boys, girls could watch it too, especially in this modern world we live in, we are trying to get rid of the double standard if possible.
