Review of My Love Story!!
An absolute gem of within the shoujo genre. Countless girls have dreamed of the day a muscle-bound, kind young man would sweep them off their feet, but in the manga/anime world? The author just doesn't seem to think there's a market for it. Here comes Ore Monogatari as a refreshing, hilarious romance involving two equally sweet characters who are perfect for each other, but are complete visual opposites. The art is gorgeous, the animation is lovely, and the scenes are heartfelt. The three main characters get to shine in ways Shoujo normally shys away from, and really set the scene for a high school love storythat seems much more relatable than 80% of the stuff that's out there. (Not a diss on the genre! Shoujo is wonderful! Just love seeing some new angles on it!)
For some, this show may be tooth-rottingly sweet, but for us fans? It's with good reason. Takeo is a tender boy who has been alienated by girls his whole life due to his strong build and manly features. He's always wished for a girl he can protect and cherish, and now that Rinko has entered his life, he deserves his own cotton candy love story.
