Review of The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me?

Hm, what do I say. It is an isekai, and pretty generic at that. Nonetheless, it was relatively interesting till the end. We have an MC who was working quite a lot in his previous life. All of a sudden, he comes to another world. A lot of things happen, he builds his own harem, the story develops. We meet both good and bad people, however, some aspects like the MC being pretty clueless sometimes does come to bother me at some point. He doesn't seem to be extremely powerful, as in, overpowered. He is, indeed, talented and has great magical abilities. The rest ofthe party does make up for that, which is totally fine, however, we can barely see their abilities due to the budget.

Speaking of budget, the animation is pretty okay, not your eye-candy content you would like to see in an anime that has quite some fighting at that. However, it did bother me a bit by the last episode. Some things were well drawn, but some fights or effects were quite... not good. It isn't ground-breaking, but I did expect better animation during those scenes.

I did enjoy it as much as I expected I would. From the first episodes it was a pretty decent anime, with interesting story and development. It just started going a little bit downhill after he was being pestered around and being hindered by the plans and existence of nobles and other higher ranked individuals.

As a matter of fact, it does seem quite weird to see the MC act in ways that isn't really typical for the character, considering he is a grown and working man, or at least was. That was the only concern and problem with the MC for most of the time. Other than that, the rest of the cast act pretty much as you would expect them to, and the most mature one being the spear guy, who does look annoying from first look, but shows a completely different nature after being appointed!

That is all. I watched it and it was good for me. Watch the first few episodes and decide for yourself if you are into it.
