Review of The Wind Rises
The Wind Rises is based on Jirō Horikoshi, a real historical figure in Japanese history, who created the infamous and world-renowned "Zero fighter" during the first years of World War II. The movie starts with Jirō Horikoshi as a young boy living in Japan, who dreams of being a pilot. However, this dream is impossible for him as he is left with short-sighted vision, and so he decides that instead of flying, he will design and create aeroplanes instead. He is given this confidence by Giovanni Caproni (a famous Italian aircraft designer) in his dream, and he encourages Jirō to take the designer path "Le vent selève!... Il faut tenter de vivre! ("The wind rises!... We must try to live!")" - Paul Valéry
"Le Cimetière Marin" (The Graveyard By The Sea).
