Review of Vinland Saga Season 2
Absolutely amazing. This IS peak story-telling. Vinland Saga represents the best of the best, both in it's developments and in the work by MAPPA in adapting this glorious masterpiece. Vinland Saga handles mature themes with grace and complexity, develops characters deeply and in moving ways, creates a realistic and tangible world, creates proper weight in every scenes, accompanies with a meaningful soundtrack, and is altogether fantastic. Vinland Saga S2 starts out with a very different setting to S1, and for good reason, this is a saga, with an actually story of development for the character Thorfinn. And WOW, what growth have we seen in thischaracter.
On criticisms in other reviews:
It's important to remember, this is a seinen, not a shounen, and deals with very heavy and important themes; complaints seem to be about wanting this to be a shounen action series (which it is thankfully, most definitely not). This show is not an action-power escapism series, and deals with very serious and developed subject-matter. If you want an action shounen, these are literally a dime a dozen; you do not need to be browsing seinen for that.
Conclusion:
I strongly, strongly recommend this series to any person even remotely in touch with humanity, it is an unforgettable ride.
