Review of Blue Period
If you're into art you could watch this, if you're NOT into art Definitely Watch This! I'm an artsy person and this really spoke to me. If you're not into art though I'd double recommend watching this anime, cause it might be what actually gets you into art! It felt like the author tried their best to make art approachable since the MC had 0 interest in it too at the start. The way people slowly pushed him forward, explaining what is what and why is what made sometimes even me go "wow that's a genius way to say that!". The story it self felt mildlysatisfying, but it's nothing extra. It only had what it needed. No love relationships, no huge typical drama(Although there are some "OMG WTH" moments). Just stuff that is mandatory to explain why many people love art.
This is also the very first anime that featured an LGBT person with whom I'm actually happy with story wise. It didn't feel like "Lets add a crossdresser just to represent/get brownie points from the LGBT community", but it actually felt like there was a reason behind it. So much so that I couldn't imagine a hetero/normal person in that role!
The animation sometimes did feel jank, but all the paintings that were featured in the anime definitely made up for it. The characters were interesting and unique, but in real way. Not grounded in stereotypes.
I loved it <3
