It's a very cute very slow-burning anime without any conclusion. I still think it is worth watching because it is really sweet coming-of-age story about two outsiders, 1 who people get along with pretty well but she doesn't want to be around them and 1 who is just really introverted. However, if you are watching for the relationship, although its cute it doesn't go anywhere in the anime.I wouldn't call it subtext, it's very obviously stated just doesn't go anywhere. I 100% recommend the Light novel though. The anime is primarily from one character's POV whereas the Light Novel gives both characters' POV.
