There were no jump scares - that I recall - that in and of itself is massive. The overall tone is very similar to season 15 and I quite liked it again. I had to re-read my reviews of the previous three seasons to make sure I'm not saying the same thing again here, for what it's worth. The tone is on point for Yami Shibai and the mix of stories was enjoyable. We saw a recurring character twice this season and his episode had a nice flourish in the starting sequence to signify it. There were no outright offensive episodes - or ones I outrightdisagreed with in tone like the one last season. I'm no social barometer or whatever, but it's appreciated. I was waiting for this season - like I tend to nowadays with this show - and it paid off.

A small spoiler here - it felt like the finale was incredibly deliberate this time around. The social commentary and setting, tone, narrative felt scariest because it felt real and about 2026. There are other episodes that reference technology and social norms, trends and fears, but this is today's problem and today's anxiety bundled into a haunting 4 minutes. 5/5 on the finale - very surprising and on the nose.

Another season, another good showing here. Actually, very good when compared to my previous commentary. I've watched all seasons of this, but started reviewing about three seasons ago in season 13. Of course, your mileage will vary.
