Review of The Rising of the Shield Hero
I am not confident about my English so please bear with it. *awkward laughs* Hearing "Isekai"anime for me is like a cringe, usually I don't watch an Isekai anime. One thing that makes me hate 'Isekai' is about men who simps a woman or rather, a harem. I actually didn't know that "The Rising of the Shield Hero" is an isekai, I literally thought it was an anime about adventures without game related like Rage of Bahamut but, it was an Isekai. Supposedly, I was about to stop watching it but there's this famous anime scene where Naofumi was accused of raping a "certain" woman thenthat made me interested. So I continuously watched it because I wanted to see how the protagonist will develop his attitude and how he will have a comeback or revenge... AND THAT IS WHAT I LOVE FROM THIS STORY.
Have you ever thought of how annoying the most of the protagonists in other anime? Where he got betrayed or hated but still stays kind 'till the end and forgives them? There are many to mention: Naruto, Bam, etc. I admit they became strong but the character development that I would expect should be a little dark. Now this anime is the great example of (MY PREFERRED) character development, to become strong not only physically but also mentally or emotionally. One thing I loved about the MC up to the end of the series is about how he didn't fully trust the people who betrayed him and didn't believe to him. I was also very satisfied by how he cope up to all the hate around him and became stronger and smarter. Also, about the MCs of other "Isekai" anime that I hate would be love interest of the MC to a certain girl like SAO, Re:Zero ( LIKE, REALLY HE'S SIMP!), familiar of Zero (note: these are the only Isekais I know). If you compare these anime to Rising of the Shield Hero, it is different. Another thing I love about Naofumi is how he is cold outside at first to Raphtalia and Filo but deep inside he cared for them and sees them as his own daughters, he never cared about his love interest and continued in focusing to his duties (but I hope he will see Raphtalia as a woman cause I feel sorry for her.). Second best character is Raphtalia, she is a loyal waifu but I hope she should've helped Naofumi during the duel in the capital. However, she's strong and useful. All in all I love both these characters.
Second thing that made me love this series is about Naofumi's comeback to both "Bitch" and "Trash". That satisfied me but Naofumi should've made up a more satisfying punishment for them like: "They will start from being poor up until they will work hard and earn a title again" but nah, that's already okay for me.
OPENINGS 1&2 is lit. it is not that kind of boring but not that hyped also. But all in all it is great. OST was made by Kevin Penkin which is really great and best specially the saxophone.
I was supposed to rate this as a 10 but I deducted to how the story goes. If you've read my first paragraph I said there that I hate harem type. As I watched this, I really hoped Naofumi would find and form a strong party that consists men and women but in the end there are three women which (maybe) loves him. BUT--! I love how Naofumi would not see of them as something lewd or maybe something as perverted kind of thinking and treats them as precious people whom he trusts.
I do hope you would understand my point (although I focused on Naofumi mostly) and you will find this helpful.
