Review of Land of the Lustrous

Fantasy! Action! Drama! ...wait...Slice of Life? Comedy?? What might you get when you combine all of these together? Turns out, something LESS than the sum of its parts... What started off strong eventually turned into something that left me quite confused. Weird plot twists, random funny (actually funny, I'll give them that) moments, characters changing without warning and to unusual extents, and...what is this anime even about? The lack of a clear direction, purpose, or plot drive is perhaps most disappointing of all (hence a Slice of Life feel). I'm hoping there's another season to correct this, but individual animes must be able to stand alonein some regard...

The only redeeming feature might be the excellent, even revolutionary artwork...it certainly took my breath away and is a solid reason to watch this anime.
