Kanon Kazahana · review
Spoiler warning
This review may discuss plot details.
Warning: Nothing happens in this episode. Something happens but it is inconsequential. The male character does not meet her, so to his mind she's dead anyway. That said, I think this special/OVA manages to salvage Kanon (2002) just a little bit. I felt that episode 13 negated the emotional impact of Episode 12. This episode brings up another dead girl, but its execution is better and not annoying. There's a gap of at least 3 episodes between her death and this special. That's why I did not dislike this as much as Episode 13. I'm actually surprised that some viewers of the 2006 Kanonremake watch this without watching Kanon (2002) first. Apparently, the 2006 version did not have an epilogue so they resort to this. They'll be in for a treat with the mixture of beautiful music and beautiful imagery.
I wish this were the official last episode of the 2002 anime, but at episode 14 or 15. I would have rated that much higher.
