I used to watch this manga's anime adaptation and my prepubescent mind thought the plot and production made this series very captivating and underrated. After remembering this series a decade later, I decided to read its manga. I had mixed and very conflicting thoughts about it and will be summarizing them below: Pros: - Initial worldbuild where Japan was struck by a nuclear disaster was very interesting - Genetically modified superhumans disguised as highschool girls added to the appeal (bonus lore where it was explained that they decided to wear their school uniform prior their deployment) - First few chapters were really focused on rescue and how not allCoppelion can be trusted which added to the mystique
- Somehow coherent explanation on scientific phenomenon even outside in-real life logic
- Extremely unique impression
- An uplifting message regarding human greed and development while considering empathy as the other side of the coin

Cons:
- Amateurish artstyle/panelling which slowly improved each chapter (I'm not a pro myself but I have to be objective)
- Plot progression and added lore was clumpy, inconsistent, and poorly paced (dragged too long).
- Wasted potential of its initial elements as to its execution being rough around the edges midway
- A lot of loopholes rooted from mid writing or forced development
- Rushed ending
- Unexpected powerscale slop
- Too many foreign elements which made it very chaotic ultimately derailing the manga's atmosphere
- Abused deus ex machina
- Shallow worldbuild midway, the element of mystique was wasted
- Unexplained as to why only a few Coppelion students were deployed despite the school housing more than many to do the Tokyo dirty work
- A lot of "running around in circles" moments

Basically the manga has a lot of ups and downs which dragged my ratings to also go up and down. To end it all at a midpoint, I had to rate it a 6 with its cons undermining the pros. The manga had a very good impression at first with its artstyle and readability improving as the chapters progress, but this also overwhelmed the writing quality to waste the potential this manga had. Still a hidden gem and would recommend it towards those who specifically love post-apocalyptic scenarios.
