One more season, now with more focus on the beast people and their nations, as we try to help Raphtalie out of her difficult situation. In season 4, are we focusing on where we left off, with Raphtalia being hunted by her home country. We see the group trying to find a way to get to the country and hopefully solve the confusion of her challenging the emperor for the throne. This is shown with the same level of detail as the previous season, but with a more clearer plotline. When looking at the plot, is it an improvement of the previous season, with the season followingtwo major arcs and is consistent with their progression. The plot is very clear, with us knowing where we go, while still giving room for some twists and turns keeping still some unknown factors. There is clear reference to some of the earlier plotlines while also carrying over to what comes next, thereby fitting nicely into the previous seasons plot. But the plot is still suffering from one issue, since it still feels disconnected from where the show started and seems to be moving away from that essence. So the plot is fine, but is just missing some of the show's original essence.

The character we follow is very much the same as usual, with some change between the side characters. The main cast is as usual Naofumi, Raphtalia and Filo, where the main focus is on Naofumi and Raphtalia. We see them as they have to face different issues and make decisions, where they have to weigh themselves against others needs and wishes. Side character wise is there a large cast, with most of them being very bland, since only a few are in focus and actually get to have a progression in their characters. This leaves the show slightly bland, for even though two of the main characters and some side characters have some real change, does the large cast just leave a wish for more and wash out the change that is happening.

Looking at the production quality of the show is there a clear difference between the level of design and animation. Design wise the show is very nice, with some interesting designs, that show differences in culture and much more. But when comparing it to the animation is it a lot more complicated, since the animation is just fine for the slow scenes, giving just what it needs. But when looking at the combat scenes though, does it feel lackluster, like there should be more to it, not enough frames and not enough details. So the production quality is really a hit and a miss, since it does some stuff right, but really fails at some points too.

To conclude it, the show is fine, but not impressive. So I would recommend watching the season if you are a big fan of the story, but if you just want something to watch I would probably go elsewhere.
