Review of Black Lagoon

Black Lagoon (2006) Story Imagine being in a job that sends you to exotic places, not bad right? How about when your corrupt company with shady actions ditches you when it goes wrong. They convince you to keep quiet, so it protects the normal workers. Then you find yourself with the mercenaries who kidnapped you being offered a place with them. In this case you take it and a new life starts for you in the Black Lagoon based in Roanapur, Thailand. Art The series is old, but the art is good in detail. The violence is portrayed with a real depth and focus. The characters are nicely detailedand the items and objects are greatly done. Drops are necessary for focus when needed too.

Sound

The OP is good. The sounds throughout were great and the action scenes are spectacular. The ED is chilling in a good way. The ED really gives a depth to Revy and the harsh realities.

Character

Rokurou our main character (Rock) the businessman thrown into a violent word from a lack of loving family is a very intellectually brilliant character. He can talk his way out of things and avoid death. He gets a bit darker as the series progresses much to the distasted of Revy who uses him to ground herself.

Revy is an interesting character having grown up in a horrendous environment. She is very detached from normal reality which makes her a senseless killer at times. Rock however is the one person who can ground her. She has affection for him but due to the nature of the series it is not played upon greatly. She is defensive of him and will protect him regardless of complaint. She dislikes his turning towards the dark side of the world they live in and it troubles her.

Dutch is the leader, he is a strong character who is scene most of the time. He is very good at combat but unlike Revy is level headed.

Benny is a computer science character who is intellectual. Like Rock he does not use weapons as he is a more passive member of the crew.

Other characters make up to be the good and bad of the series changing throughout the messy environment that they live in.

Enjoyment

The show is violent with a strong story. The adventures are not rushed and played out well. The action is greatly played out and the characters you meet you feel the connection.

Overall

The show overall is great to watch and enjoyment absolute. The Show got a second season and a strong set of OVA so must be good right?
