I created an account just to fix the mess of the terrible reputation people are making of this. Andromeda Stories is an ancient anime from 1982, taking scifi far even before Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. If you have played Terranigma, it is very similar to this film. It's a planet that is being invaded by machines, who are using small robotics to invade and possess people. Chaos ensues, but a prince and princess who were born of royal blood have the abilities to be able to resist. The film explored ideas of resurrection, and what true happiness could be. The machines give certain charactersthe chance to become machine also, and to be eternal and always happy. But Humans see a contradiction here because of how controlled and monitored their society is.

As the humans fight back, there is a clash of theory on how to win. Some just want to battle while others become suicidal in their attacks.

Also one of the most bittersweet of bittersweet, it's a tragedy overall, but with an incredible ending of hope and new life.

There isn't really much I didn't like but the music score could have been better.
