Review of Bakemonogatari

Literally one of the best pieces of media I've ever consumed. Outstanding from start to finish. Incredible depth and nuance, while still being understandable and enjoyable. Where do you start? The incredible environment designs with derelict city-scapes and unique backgrounds? The wide array of greatly enjoyable, fleshed out, and interesting characters? The fast and witty wordplay present throughout the entire series? I could go on for hours, and that's not even close to everything. It's incredible. The music slaps, the characters are great, the art is beautiful, the dialogue is hilarious, the fights (while sparse) are incredibly well done, and the police are already on their way.Yeah, you might want to close the door for some moments. The MC is a bit of a creep towards some younger characters, admittedly.

It turns so many anime clichés on their heads and presents them to you in new and interesting ways, and the many references to more hardcore anime culture will likely be caught only by the more seasoned viewer. Not an introductory series, so bare that in mind.

Overall, if you've been watching anime for a while, want something a bit more plot heavy, character-focused, and lovingly made, give this a shot. It's not for everyone, but if it's for you, you'll likely fall for it as much as I have.
