I am certainly appalled and shocked at why the most voted reviews has a bad ranking for this series, for I personally liked it. Perhaps it was too confusing, or the watcher didn't receive real pain to understand what on earth was going on with this anime (I'm not saying you didn't for those who did). Black Rock Shooter has two different worlds. One world is the normal life-style you're living in, and the other world is where your 'other-self' exists in and fight non-stop. You don't do anything else there. Just fight. You see, this anime has been a serious confusion for me from timeto time, and at times I felt like just ditching it because it's too depressing. But, I continued it. After all, it's only 8 episodes, and I thought nothing will hurt to just finish it all on one day, and man I'm super glad I didn't stop.

This anime comes from an MV, and its main topic is about pain, pain and nothing else but pain. Well, aside from love and friendship that is. I can only warn you that this anime is freakin' depressing, and I've been in a bad mood the whole day bc of it, but I'm still grateful I finished it since I definitely saw a masterpiece.

You won't clearly understand it if you're the type that doesn't notice the 'behind messages', and simply watch for mere entertainment. This anime surprisingly showed us our real harsh reality, and chose a VERY interesting way to interpret that thought into our heads. In the other world, there is another you fighting and enduring your pain. When your chest hurts, someone endures more than your pain, because they worry about you. They feel more stronger, and they want to do anything for you even thought they think it's helpless. This is a message that got through me from the first episode of this anime, and I've kept positive about it and only doubted it a few times bc of its strangeness of the 'other world.'

If I talk anymore, I'm afraid I'll spoiler you meanings that you have to find yourself; this anime is a hidden gem in MAL, and it's definitely a must-watch. Focus on this anime, but I don't advice you to watch it if your mood gets changed a little bit too fast.
I know I rated it '7', and no it's not because it only contains 8 episodes. In fact, I personally agree that 8 episodes is enough and anymore will have the series dragging and dragging non-stop. I didn't give it a 10 bc sometimes the characters were too much to handle and the mood swings didn't quite work out for me.

Overall, it was still a good-worthy series to watch.
