Review of Nagasarete Airantou

Who doesn't love harem anime? And an all female island this time, getting creative with it I see. This is basically a straight comedy, there's no serious drama or romance anywhere to be found. Just a hapless protagonist with a Marty McFly "chicken" kind of trigger for the word "impossible." His only character trait is that he will never give up or let you say something is impossible. Admirable but not exactly the sort of thing that's going to help him survive a harem anime full of just about every gal game trope under the sun. Part of the fun of watching this was trying toguess each girl's character archetype just based on their appearance and first few seconds of screen time. You can make a game of it. This is the dumb one, the tsundere, the glasses girl, the reliable older sister, the imouto, and so on. My favorite conceptually is the large one. All these normal girls and you just have this one that's like 3 times the size of a normal human for no reason. It's great. The humor is on point and consistently subversive. Just when you think you've got the tropes figured out they'll switch it up on you. It's a wild ride and a good anime to watch with friends. Nothing too thought provoking or prolific in it's execution, but fun nonetheless. 7/10
