Review of Monster
Very few Anime have really captivated me in indulging in more than 50 episodes and Monster is no exception. With 74 episodes most audiences would have thought twice in trying to watch it, I too was no different but Monster has that one distinct capability of keeping the show interesting while also making the audience think for themselves of what is happening. Monster does not give off direct meaning to its dialogue, instead it uses sentences that would only make the watcher have their own perspective of what a certain character is trying to say. This widens the narrative since there is no objective dialogue, almostevery important phrase or sentence that would close the gap to the mysteries are said subjectively thus making the audience think.
Monster is one of those unique Anime that does not rely on the main characters, instead it exhibits a wide range of supporting characters that are independent of their own. Every character in Monster is interesting and has their own purpose on why they are shown, they are not only there just for the means of having side characters but each of their own experiences, beliefs, and human emotions contribute to the whole story.
The sound and the art style couldn't have been more suited for a psychological/thriller anime, with its dark themes and eerie music I sometimes regret watching it at night(pretty pathetic). Its sense of realism in terms of art makes the characters more human with its outstanding use of facial expressions which truly showcase the horror that one is experiencing or has experienced, in cases where words are not enough.
Overall, Monster is truly a masterpiece, a timeless classic that shall be remembered for a long time. It sets the golden standard of what true horror anime should be. 10/10 would definitely watch again.
