Review of Redline
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS MINOR SPOILERS!!! Redline is an anime that I just absolutely love. So much even that I bought a 100$ metal print of JP, the mc. Now, first of all, the story: The story in Redline isnt the best but its more than good enough for a movie and its divided into multiple subplots. The first one being JPs friend Frisbee secretly working for the mafia who is trying to make JP loose his races for money. Then there is the "love story" between JP and Sonoshee. And then there is the main plot which is Redline itself. Now, whats Redline about exactly?Redline takes place in a world thats pretty different from ours and space travel doesnt seem to be much of a problem anymore. So im assuming its set in the distant future. JP is one of a few racers who try to get into Redline a race that takes place once every few years. To enter he first has to reach at least 5th place (i think) in Yellowline which is the qualifying race for Redline. He doesnt manage to qualify until he's told that he can race because 2 racers dropped out. Reason being, they dont want to race on Roboworld which is the planet Redline is taking place this year. JP's car got damaged badly in Yellowline though because Frisbee, his friend, blew it up for money. They end up repairing the car with the help of another mechanic and in the meantime we get to know Sonoshee, JP and the world in general better.
Now story aside, the animation quality and art is probably the best ive ever seen in any anime. Its simply outstanding and nothing gets even close to the level of Redline. The characters are great aswell, the dub and sub are both phenomenal and work really well with the movie, though I actually prefer the dub for once. The music and sound design is great aswell, there just isnt anything to complain about here.
In conclusion: If I had to describe this movie in 2 words then "Adrenaline rush" would be the only thing I could think of. It is simply amazing. If you were to close your eyes for 5 seconds youd miss like one week of animation and drawing proccess thats how good it is. 10/10 (my mom didnt like it though..)
