Review of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

This is the first negative review I've ever posted. I see a lot of love for this show. And I won't claim to not see the appeal in a show, similar to this. But the way "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" attempts to pull it off. Leaves me, bored, tired, and over it, by episode 3. However, I forced myself to go on, because of all the hype. Having finished this show, I can safely say, it's by far the worst show I've ever seen. In terms of enjoyment. Again, but episode 3; it felt like an utter chore to watch. Granted, I did gointo this show, expect something entirely different. I knew the show was hyped out of this atmosphere. And from what I seen of it, prior to watching; it seemed like a mysterious, thrilling adventure. Similar to Steins;Gate. But I quickly realized, this is nothing more than a "Cutsy" anime. Which it isn't even good at being. Occasionally, it seems as if it's trying to be that, mysterious show. But every time it either falls flat, or comes off as weird, or trying to hard. Aside from that, from the first episode, there's an emphasis on the romance between the 2-lead characters. Which reaches it's climax, only a few episodes in. Only to then completely forget it ever happen. Even going as far as to push the love interest off on another character.

Now, on to endless 8... God, i could talk all day about this mess of an arc. As much as some of you claim to love it. Even though, i'd wager, 90% of you have never slogged through it. I depise it. Whole heartedly. Becuase it's litterally, and completely pointless. After the first episode, it's nothing buy 8 episode of ultra, mega, super Sayian levels of filler. Expect, it's even worse becuase, not only is it not filler, (it's a main "story" arc) it's exactly the same show, played 8 times. Yeah, you read that right. It's the exact same show, repeated, 8 times. The ONLY difference, is the clothing worn. Events, interactions, everything. It's all the same, for 8 episodes! Why they choose, this was the best way to convay some sort of mistery, is beyond me.

Finally, the "ending." Fuck. Me. Was it bad... Picture this, it's any other episode. Aaaaaaaand, that's it. That's the ending. No set up for next season, not pay off, no questions answered, nothing. **Spoilers... I guess***
He buys a heater for the club room, and the 2-main characters walk home together. ROLL ENDING CREDITS.

In conclusion, I went into it, expecting something. But when I realized it was something else. I wasn't disappointed. I love a good cute anime. But after all the repetitive, and boring bullshit, all I was left with, was a massive "Fuck you" of an ending.
