This is one of those inoffensive isekai series that do one or two things well but that you ultimately won't remember outside of a couple scenes. The usual tropes are all here, OP cheat skill granted by a deity, regressed to age 15 (why is it always 15) rare companion creatures, female slaves being bought by the MC, getting cozy with big shots really fast, next to no real suspicions about his origins, they even go down the road of making him really stupidly OP but at least he has to put some work in to get there and utilize his party members to assisthim in getting there.
The MC is an alchemist in the sense that Edward Elric is an alchemist. I think he makes potions maybe twice in the entire series so far, his "alchemy" is really more about processing of materials and creating intricate magic circles. It really does feel like calling him a "production mage" would have been much more in tune with what we see him actually do. And the scenes of him working through processes and doing production are quite fun, if a bit few and far between as the series mostly focuses on interpersonal drama
The interpersonal drama is well written, if solved a bit fast for my liking, however it's nothing you haven't read before if you've read more than a few isekai series. The MC and their entourage definitely have a few flaws that make it interesting to read their actions, but again it's a bit of a trope-fest.
It's currently going in a more interesting direction with a proper antagonist rather than small problems every few chapters, but at volume 8 it's coming a bit late imho.
This is definitely one of those series you'll burn through in an afternoon and then not think about again until you see it getting another season of it's anime adaptation. It has a decent bit of potential in it's story, and I am definitely curious to see where it'll end up, but I don't have high hopes it'll be rated higher by the end.
