TL;DR - If you're in the mood for an anime that's a little more relaxing, funny, cute, and slightly tinged with sadness you'll definitely like Kakushigoto. Although somewhat similar to Usagi Drop, it's important to note that some of the comedy relies on a lot of puns and wordplay in Japanese. Heck the title of the show is a three way wordplay regarding Kakushigoto meaning a secret, kaku shigoto meaning drawing for work and Kakushi Gotou the name of the main character. You'll be able to get the main story without extensive knowledge but a lot of little jokes and dialogue won't make as muchsense. It would also definitely help knowing a bit about how the manga industry runs.

This anime is cute as heck. Charming is one of the best words I can describe it. The simple, bold, bright visuals work great for this story and the animators make great use of the simple designs. All the voice actors are great and each of the characters have their own little personality. There's a sense of mystery that the anime sets up that makes you want to keep watching and although it doesn't quite stick the landing, it wraps almost everything up in a relatively neat little package.

If I were to criticize any aspect of the show I do believe that the ending is a bit rushed, I found myself rewinding parts of the episode as some of the plot developments speed by and take a bit to process.

Overall, Kakushigoto hit all the right buttons for me:
A cute, never weird father-daughter relationship
Relaxing, for the most part lighthearted vibe
And a somewhat satisfying ending that wraps up most of the major plot points.
