Review of Solo Leveling Season 2: Arise from the Shadow
Overall: It's mostly eye candy and guilty pleasure. The fights are incredibly well done, but other than that, don't expect much complexity in story, characters or writing. Our MC is literally OP, a death sentence for further plots. Recommended for pizza nights with friends to watch and hype over big aura without knowing what's going on. Surprisingly entertaining. Music: 10/10 aot vibes right there Characters: Golden plated toilet. They are introduced so shiny and strong, but the moment they fight, it's all shitting and kidding. What a sad power scaling system. Thrown out lots of potential there. Animation: Delicious fight scenes. Flow and timing is very well done. They definitely made sure to make MC as handsome as possible.
Plot: The scaling system in skills and levels is fun, only for MC, that's it, but makes you want to play an RPG online game after every episode. In depth there is not much going on, would have been nice to know more about the oirigin of monsters and power and how things work, which is why the world building feels rather simple. MC is stream lining his goal directly and that's what works for this anime and writing. But the moment it tries to stray off and put a bit of foreshadowing and plot building it fails, in an eyerolling manner.
Despite the critique i'ts a well rounded anime with good fight scenes, it rly shines most by locking you in with the idea of RPG elements, it makes you want to hype for MC and his on going growth of power. Other than that, the pacing is refreshing especially for tiktok rotted brains like me, every episode feels like 5-10min, you will forget your phone, your food, your drink or anything that can distract you. Time will fly by, make sure to not have any important appointments in the meantime. You will forget them too.
