Review of Horimiya
"Sometimes, the destination isn't what makes it fun. It's the journey" Ah Horimiya, the wholesome anime of winter 2021. In the world of Rom-com, it always seemed rare these days that I find such a romance anime that doesn't involve massive honkers and "Accidents". Yes, the general plot is cliched. we know for sure Hori and Miyamura are bound to fall in love, but the journey to reach there? It's what makes up the joy of this anime. Story: 8/10 We already know how the ending will go, but I like how they maintain a somewhat balance of screentime between other couples. Other couples are asinteresting in their own way like Remi and Sengoku (They're a cute couple I like)
The rotation of couples and other characters makes the plot interesting
Art: 9/10
Cloverworks did a great job with having their artwork. Filling scenes in bright and transitioning from normal anime to chibi occasionally
Sound: 8/10
OP and ED slaps hard. Music set a merry ambience that feels warm
Character: 7/10
Miyamura was definitely the spotlight for character development, but that doesn't exactly put out the other character development like Yuki, Sengoku and Sakura to name a few. All of them have a pretty generic personality which is fine in my opinion.
Enjoyment: 9/10
Horimiya was quite the anime that I enjoyed much because of its aspect of wholesome rom-com that doesn't revolve around perversion for cheap laughs. This doesn't exactly mean there weren't any sxual stuff, but it doesn't happen much. Every episode has me got a smile on the face. Horimiya is definitely a great anime to watch that feels like a fresh breath of air after coming out of your house during these times of rona.
