Review of Fena: Pirate Princess
Story 8/10 + comedy, medieval time period, pirate, samurai inspired, nice balance between easy-going start and steadily increase of drama to the culmination at the end - the ending idea and the whole idea behind what you could call 'fate' was a bit too much out-there, even though I'm not adversive to the theological idea behind it. Art 11/10 + oustanding, definitely the best I've yet seen. ever., the fluidity of the movements, the hair, expressions and even the mouth during the voice acting are absolutely stunning. The detail into the backgrounds as well, they're all little art works. - Nothing to add, it should deserve an 11as this completely blew me away. You know what, I'm actually going to do just that and add it to my overall score at the end.
Sound 10/10
+ really well-timed voice acting, befitting every situation and incredibly versatile at moment. I also loved the chaos moments when all characters were just talking over each other - add a bonus os realism and absurdity there. Opening theme is on repeat for the next few weeks for sure and gets re-used in the soundtracks here and there. Ending theme is also great, though I didn't get to listen to it too much due to me needing to go to that next episode faster.
- Again, nothing. Superb.
Enjoyment 9/10
+ The comedy is incredibly well-timed and never over done and even though I didn't particularily liked the fantastical turn of events towards the end, I'd still recommend this anime to. I dunno. Everyone., simply because the art is just so breathtakingly beautiful it would be a sin to skip on.
Overall score of 9.6, I'm going to keep it short and simple: it has pirates, is samurai-inspired, is funny and gradually culminates to more drama and fantasy. What's not to like? Every one wil ldefinitely find something in there they like. And it would just be too much of a pity to skip on this stunning piece of art. I am absolutely mesmerised and jealous of every character's hair in this one. Okay, since I'm not actually making it short at this rate: just watch it! It's absolutely stun-ning to look at. A treat for your eyes, if you will. Ok, ok. That's it. The end.
