Review of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End
You remember that Seinfeld episode where George has this clever idea about creating a show about nothing? and documenting their day-to-day life. This show is literally that. A seemingly all powerful mage who's lifespan is seemingly infinite who looks like a child despite being many centuries old. Frieren the elf mage, conception of time is fairly different than rest of the people she interacts with. How can you blame her though. 100 years is not even a fraction of her total life span. As a result, she is aloof and apathetic for the most part towards people around her. Until, she meets a human mage whocompliments her on the staggering amount of spells she has at her disposal. Thus, begins the change and impetus for Frieren character development, becoming more engaged with the people around her and taking a deeper interest in their lives.
That is literally the depth of the show. The soundtracks are not memorable, the dialogue is pretty basic, and the show overall is pretty flat. However, there is a couple of cinematic fighting scenes, but aside from that, this show is just disappointing with the plot it had going.
