Review of Chainsaw Man
Things are bleak, brutal and naughty in the dystopian world of 'Chainsaw Man'. Devil Hunters chase down & kill Devils but it's not clear which side has the upper hand. Denji, our MC is a poverty stricken kid. He's orphaned, overworked, underpaid but fairly powerful thanks to Pochita. While there are quips about what constitutes a normal life,it's not the core idea of the anime. Given it's premise, the anime is more action and plot heavy while the story doesn't seem to move forward. New premises are introduced while the viewer struggles to piece it together. Most of the times,we know just enough to stay interested in the next episode butthe payoffs aren't worth it. The anime is amply aided by a mix of eccentric characters that share good chemistry. Of course, the animation is very good too. However, the show lacks depth. While the eps are entertaining,it's well nigh impossible to get emotionally invested in majority of the characters.
Thus, just like our 'Gun Devil',as a viewer I couldn't find Chainsaw Man's heart. Maybe the movie and the forthcoming seasons will plug this gap.
