Review of The King's Avatar
King's Avatar is a Chinese anime. So if you can't get pass the language, it won't be for you. However, if you can look past (or heck, even enjoy) the language, what you get is a pretty fun journey. It tells the story of a professional eSports player who retires and goes to play on a new server. A huge pull for me was the fact that it had a eSports setting. However, that barely comes into play and you could consider it a subplot to the 2 main features below. First, is power fantasy. If you liked Overlord, No Game No Life or even One PunchMan, you might like this as the main protagonist, being a professional and all, is ridiculously overpowered and knowledgeable. While he still has his fair share of struggles, it's generally fun to see a super-powered main protaganist.
Second, are the characters. There are a bunch of quirky and fun characters that get their share of the spotlight in the anime. We get to see them develop, learn about them and start caring about them.
While the anime itself is a bit short, I recommend it to anyone who enjoys overpowered main characters and MMO-esque settings. The battle scenes are great and well-thought out, and this underrated anime should get some exposure regardless of where it originated from.
