Your classic underdog, wrong side of the tracks boxer aiming to become champion. Don’t let the SciFi aesthetic or addition of robot arms fool you, Megalobox never tries to be anything more, it doesn’t subvert the genre or try to become overly philosophical. This is its strength. It knows that you know the story before it happens, but is a fun ride with enjoyable characters and a fair amount twists and turns to make it interesting without ever getting frustrating or drawn out. Great show for those that love the genre. A more adult and abbreviated Hajime no Ippo or an anime Creed/Rocky tale.
