Review of Sword Art Online

Right off the bat, I thought the show was rushed and had many opportunities to dive deeper into characters. No characters were really enjoyable for me at the least besides maybe Kirito, his "sister" and Asuna for the first 12 episodes. The villains were outright atrocious in the sense of motives. All the side girls had potential to be good side characters but ultimately just wanted Kirito's to fall in love with them. The visuals were great during fights and thats about it, as well as each character having their own unique design. The sword fight between Kirito and that salamander leader was peak andalso the fact they they completely deserted Asuna's character for the 2nd half of the season didn't sit well with me. I've heard terrible things about the future of this show, my only hope is for them to expand on the mechanics and explore more of what of these virtual worlds have to offer. I'm a sucker for this kinda story though with video games as the main focus, so I do realize that my 7 is a little generous.
