8 /10

I’ll just get the obvious out of the way: THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO A STORY THAN THE QUALITY OF ITS PRODUCTION! Plot: 9/10 The story being told here was lovely, well-written, and almost perfectly explained, putting even some high-budget pieces (still looking at you, Makoto “who cares about making Hina’s powers consistent or logical in any capacity?” Shinkai) to absolute shame with its competence. Characters: 8/10 Orine and her mother are both reasonably well developed characters, but I do have to dock a couple of points since the side characters (particularly the Dr. and that other lady) didn’t receive that same treatment. Animation: 3/10 Yeah, I’m not even goingto pretend - This film is hideous, lol. This whole thing was quite obviously made in Blender by just a few people, with the entire project ultimately riddled with stiff movements and uncanny designs. The CGI is probably what turns most people away or makes them leave low scores, which is a shame since every other aspect is really interesting.

Sound: 7/10
Although the soundtrack isn’t very extensive, the repeated lullaby was quite sweet, especially during the bittersweetness of that ending.

Enjoyment: 8/10
I’m personally one to care FAR more about story consistency than animation quality (in fact, it is the only element I do not factor into my ratings at all, only mentioning it for others who might actually care), so the “my first Blender project” feel of this film didn’t really detract from the overall experience.

Overall, if you’re looking for a wholesome yet tragic sci-fi story and don’t care about animation quality, I would highly recommend checking this out!
