Review of Noragami Aragoto
So off the heels of finishing the first season, I bounded my way into season 2 or Aragoto in this case. I enjoyed my time with the first season and wanted to keep it up. So let's not waste time and continue onward. Story: 8 So we start off with a scene that, in all honesty, kinda pumped me up for the rest of the season. It shows Bishamon, a character that was cool but didn't get a lot of screen time, crying out in distress and begging for an attacker to stop. We watch as, this attacker turns out to be Yato. Immediately I thought, "Startingoff with the explanation of why she hates his guts? Fuck yea, let's go". the story then follows group after the events of the first season as the past seems to return and become an issue once again. Or at least the first half does. The second is centered around a god of Fortun and developing Yato even more. I'm not complaining since all in all I enjoyed the whole season. But the two halfs don't really connect well as far as sequencing goes. It's like the resolution of the first half happens and then the second half plot just starts like no time passes. The best way to describe it would be would be getting arrested for a crime right as you walk out of a court house and had just settled a case. I would of actually prefered a filler episode just to let it feel like there was a space of calm and peace. Other than that, great story.
Art and Sound: 7 and 7
Nothing too different here, it looks the same and sounds the same. The one thing I will say is that the opening is much better in my opinion. Very catchy.
Character: 8
This season is all about character developement. You have the same cast with new added characters for plot and what not. The cool thing is that the developement focuses on topics that pop up during season 1, but weren't really able to be addressed. We even see more about Yato and the kind of life he used to live. I honestly feel for the guy in a lot of ways. I won't spoil why but I will say we have all at some point been in his shoes.
Enjoyment: 8
Like I said earlier, I was rolling right of the ending of Season 1. I enjoyed it then and I enjoyed it even more now. I really liked how the theme really centered around the idea of identity in one way or another. I know that was a bit of the theme last time but this time it's the prime focus. I would recommend this series as a whole to just about anybody. Yea, I know people didn't like the first season too much but they really improved and did much better here. Watch both seasons as a marathon. The ride is worth it.
And it only cost 5 yen.
