Review of The World is Still Beautiful
A ...somewhat promising start, followed by perhaps one of the most valid crashouts in anime history (when blondie first appears). And after that i honestly lost all interest. Now,that more of a ... personal gripe is out of the way , this show is bad simply because it's either falesly advertized or the author had no clue what they were trying to make. Why am i saying that? Because this show has 3 genres and it does justice to not one of them. Fantasy? What fantasy? The only "magic" is the rain dance turned song. Nobody else has any other powers. There's no fantasy. Adventure? Ifwatching some half-baked training montages and watching them walk from point A to point B counts as an adventure then i guess we discovered new meanings to adventuring. Now, to give credit where credit is due, they do ... attempt romance. But instead of it being a full body, it feels more like the entrails of romance. Not to mention the story and all the characters feel more like plot devices. They are interchangable. The relationship between the main characters is also barely developed. It feels more like she falls for him out of sheer pity rather then anything else, with all the story beats we're shown. And there's plenty of pointless melodrama . Not to mention most of the problems that arise make no sense when this king supposedly "conquered the world'. Im almost certain that is only used because it sounded cool in the authors head.
All in all, it's a decent premise that goes absolutely nowhere. Unless you really emptied the sack, i can't recommend watching this.
