So Pop Team Epic or Poputepipikku finished leaving me with one word. "What" What prompted me to start watching it was the fact that I recognised the characters from Discord emotes used on some servers so I decided to give it a watch. I know I said that leaving Pop team epic left me with the word "what" but it was also what I started with. It started off pretending as another anime which in fact caused me to turn it off thinking I was watching the wrong anime as the website showed its Japanese name and not Pop Team Epic as other sites have been referringit to until I saw someone used it's Japanese name and decided to actually watch it. Needless to say it was the Pop Team Epic that it advertised with the title card being interrupted by Popuko yelling: "I THINK NOT." What then drawn me in was the fact that she had a male voice.

I carried on watching and was then surprised by the references it had in the first 5 minutes. From Your Name, Pokemon, Chrono Trigger, Berserk and even Skyrim. As I watched, I learnt that it was sort of like Robot Chicken in the sense that the episode is made of different sketches, some being more absurd than funny however. Oh and then the episode ended 12 minutes in rolling the credits. Then the episode... started playing again? But then their voices were female. I actually skipped over but then learnt that the male and female runs of the episode had slight differences between them. They were there, believe me.... they're just hard to find and just made me think they did it so they could make them 'longer episodes.'

The art is simple though at some points they disguised the art as another anime for the purpose of making Popuko and Pipimi look out of place for comedic effect which sometimes worked. Sometimes it became deliberately horrifying for the purpose of the 'Bob team epic' sketches.

Now for enjoyment... that all really comes down to your sense of humour. I did find enjoyment in some sketches but found nothing in others for example there were cooking show sketches that made no sense to me. I know that the show was full to the brim with references but I guess I just didn't know them.

I'm giving it a 6/10 mainly because I found the character designs pretty fun looking and enjoyed some of the sketches like the 'Hellshake Yano' sketch which wasn't actually animated but was instead shot with people holding sketchbooks and flipping through them.
