Review of The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.
I wasn't expecting that much from this series and I was left completely fascinated. From the very beginning this anime mnaged to amuse me, and I immediately thought it was charming. Strangely does a very fast pacing work for me, however the quick and easy development of events went so well with the comedic tone of this series and felt so natural that it made me love the show even more. Saiki Kusuo is such an easy to love character and an amazing protagonist. As simple as his character may seem he's very well written and a cleverly built character. We viewers are able to getinside his thoughts, and understan from his own perspective how his way of thinking and his head work, and it truly felt like a real woking human mind. Saiki wasn't interested in anything or anyone (or so it seems) and just wanted to live his life as alienated as possible, which his powers make it for him impossible to do so. He is not a generic main character with a generic personality, his mind and thoughts feel real and natural.
Another thing I loved about the series was Saiki's character design. He manages to be attention drawing enough to the viewer to make them curious to watch it because of his eccentric and colorful character design, contrasting his cynical personality.
The complexities of Saiki's powers are so well dealt with in the series that it's hard not to be amazed by them, even about their aspects we don't know much about.
I thought this series was truly brilliant. Surprisingly so clever yet feel-good and it all felt so natural. It was SO funny at all the right times and I loved the way it balanced between witty and silly humour. This was such a creative series and a great idea/concept for a comedy show, hits all the right spots. Very easy to watch and addictive, absolutely loved it.
