Writing a positive review here to balance out the other person's negative review as I personally find this series to be pretty great so far! The animation is great, the characters are compelling, and the writing and voice acting is pretty stellar. I understand the other person's point about the extra animation effects possibly "distracting" from the actual rakugo, but I personally disagree. I agree with their recommendation of "Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu" for a more "realistic" portrayal of Rakugo, but I don't think that Akane Banashi is losing out on anything. This is an animated adaptation of another art form, so any extra effectsfor emphasis are a given. For example, the first-person view shots we get of Tohru and Akane as they enter the stage do a great job of forcing the audience to feel constrained and relate to their stage anxiety. Anyways, this series seems to be pretty great, I would highly recommend it!
