This is a Junji Ito manga with the usual "charming grotesque" artwork but a extremely bizarre story that mix up mystical theories like akashic records, angel hairs and clairvoyance in a weird story where random grotesque, bizzarro stuff happens in a fluid but kinda boring way, there's nothing too crazy or shocking that happens instead of many other Ito stories i read. The story is centered on this girl named Kyoko that was trekking near a vulcan and finds some weird golden filaments that we're going to know that they are Angel hairs, a mysterious things that appears when UFOs are witnessed, as well as holyapparitions in the Christian folklore, a man appears from nowhere and takes the girl to his village, Kiyokami, where people have psychic powers thanks to the concentration of said angel hairs. Then a eruption destroy the village killing everybody but the young girl, saved by a angel hair cocoon and turning her's hairs... "M A G I C", without a better term, giving her strong psychic powers. A journalist named Wataru starting to being interested by this mysterious case, to slowly become it's "obsession" and starting a chase trough Japan and more bizarre paranormal cases, including evil Gurus powered by the dark gods from the edge of the universe and pitch hairs, human insects, stalker with frog eyes, time travel and a cult that broke street mirrors for creating the ultimate stalking system.
